Zinglez: Personalized Location-Based Dating App Development
A successful product begins with a clear vision. In this instance, the goal was straightforward: make dating more intentional, rather than random.
Made for meaningful connections
Zinglez was developed as a personalized, location-based dating application. Instead of relying on endless swiping, users can enter their interests, preferred types of dates, and geographical location. The app will locate matches with mutual interests in proximity to one another.
The purpose of the application is to facilitate meaningful connections between individuals. We developed features such as interest-based discovery and map-driven user searches to encourage individuals to meet in person, and not just chat endlessly online. The app also provides the option of booking dates in specific locations. To ensure the number of users on the app grows organically, we included a referral system and an ambassador program.
From inception through to production launch and to date, Weelorum has managed all aspects of the Zinglez project lifecycle. We’re talking about idea validation, product discovery, design, development, launch, and scaling. The Zinglez application is live in production, fully functional, and continues to receive regular feature updates.
Client Goals & Business Tasks
At the time of initial contact, the client had no existing functional product. However, they did have a preliminary concept and a vision of how they wanted to facilitate the dating experience in a more natural way.
So, we were primarily responsible for creating a viable, fully functioning, market-ready platform from this initial concept presented to us. The client had several clear goals:
Move away from swipe-based dating
Introduce a location-based discovery feature
Develop and manage subscription and in-application messaging features
Support organic growth through referrals
Provide a flexible administrative dashboard
In addition, the system needed to be designed in a way that it would be easy to manage and could support rapid scaling at any time. Everything, from user onboarding to payments and analytics, had to function smoothly from the very beginning. This would ensure that the user wouldn’t get frustrated and leave the app at any point.

Challenges in System Development
The development team faced the following challenges:
Challenge 1: Moving Beyond Swipe-Based Dating
Swipe-driven dating apps allow users to make their selections based on quick choices; Zinglez wanted to take a very different approach. They wanted to build multiple custom matching algorithms based on user interests, intentions, and stated preferences. This required creating new methods of discovering matches and filtering systems for matches.
Challenge 2: Geo-Preference and Map-Based Discovery
This app was meant to be centered around location. As such, users needed real-time location-based discovery with no long load times, high battery usage, or lag. Therefore, the application had to provide a fast, clear, and easy-to-use map experience that won’t feel overwhelming or boring.
Challenge 3: Organic Growth via Referrals and Ambassadors
The client wanted users to help the application grow. To that end, we needed to develop a referral system that would reliably track invitations, installs, and conversions of users across multiple device types and platforms.
Challenge 4: Full-Cycle Delivery and Scalability
The project required the development of multiple systems (mobile apps, backend services, and admin tools) simultaneously. To meet future growth, each system had to support the current environment and not require major redevelopment to become scalable.
Each of the four challenges required careful planning and coordinated efforts between our teams.
Implemented Solutions
To meet these challenges, Weelorum employed a combination of product strategy, robust architecture, and performance-driven development.
Personalized Matching & Preference Logic
We built a custom discovery system to match users based on shared interests, preferred date types, and location settings, which helped to differentiate Zinglez from its swipe-first competitors. We believed this would help users get more relevant matches instead of random ones.
Map-Based Discovery Experience
With Google Maps integrated into the app, users could see their matches visually on a map. We carried out performance optimizations to ensure smooth interaction between matches. Even with frequent updates, interaction remained smooth.
Referral System & Ambassador Program
Weelorum integrated Branch to support deep linking and mobile attribution, which made it possible to effectively track referrals, ambassador performance, and user acquisition sources on both iOS and Android.
Real-Time Chat & Media Sharing
With the Twilio-powered messaging feature, users can chat in real time and share media without leaving the app. This feature is one of the ways we ensured user retention and increased app usage.
Custom Backend & Admin Dashboard
We developed a custom backend using Node.js and MongoDB to power the platform. We also built an admin dashboard to allow the client manage user accounts, subscriptions, content, and reports more efficiently.
Technologies and Tools Used
Native development was chosen to provide maximum performance and reliability to the app and its services, and this technology stack is optimal for long-term stability and future growth.

Team & Project Scope
The project was accomplished with a cross-functional project team:
The total cost of the entire project was around $300,000. We covered the whole project, from the start to the end, and everything in between (discovery, design, development, launch). We also provide a continuous support system for the app.
Results of Our Work
As a result of this project, Zinglez was developed and tested before being launched as a complete product. Now, it is live in production.
The following are some of the results we were able to achieve:
- Fully functional iOS and Android apps
- Personalized, location-based discovery experience
- A referral and ambassador growth system enabling organic growth
- Subscription-ready monetization model
- Scalable backend and admin dashboard
- Organic maintenance and feature expansion
The success of this project demonstrates that Weelorum has the expertise to develop advanced mobile platforms with custom logic and long-term reliability.
Current Status & Future Development
Zinglez was launched in the third quarter of 2025 and is still up and running. Since its launch, the product has continued to grow through periodic updates and improvements to existing features. After the launch, 7809 users registered, 8400 matches, and 5499 dates were created.
Weelorum is still active in maintaining the infrastructure, adding performance enhancements, and supporting new releases as user demand increases. This partnership reflects our commitment to product development in a long-term manner, focusing on stability, growth, and real business value.
